Following the massive success of our Whistle Bait Babies Training Camp we would like to invite you to our next term of burlesque classes! Always fancied yourself as a bit of a wiggly, giggly chorus-line dame? Now’s your chance to learn some moves, meet some wonderful gals and have a helluva good time along the way!
Every Tuesday starting 4th May, ending on the 25th
Dance Resource Base, 35 Donegall Street, Belfast (near the John Hewitt)
£30 for the course of 4 classes
12 places available from 6pm-7.30pm with the possibility of a later class, depending on demand.
Following feedback from our training camp you will be happy to know classes have been extended to an hour and a half for more lolz per minute! We will cover all the basics of moving, posing, peeling, teasing and revealing (so don’t worry if you’ve never done this before), then embark upon a brand new troupe routine taught across the four weeks and polished til it gleams like a big lovely diamond.

ATTENTION!
Ladies of Northern Ireland! We are recruiting! Not only are we recruiting, we are training new recruits with brand spanking new weekly classes starting 27th February!!
Since the inception of the Babies it has been our dream to perform with a troupe of like-minded girls, putting on wonderful shows and having marvellous adventures.
2010 is the year we make that happen.
We have met so many girls at our workshops and at our shows who have expressed such excitement and passion in learning about burlesque that we would like to present to you the opportunity to come and join us, whether to simply learn for yourself or to potentially become a Baby.
We will be running classes for 4 weeks for £7 per class/£20 for the course (to cover props, insurance, etc.) during which you will learn how to move, act and dance like a showgirl, culminating in a full burlesque troupe routine.
At the end of the four weeks, we will be looking for girls to join us. And also assessing whether to continue lessons for those who want to learn for exercise/fun/social reasons.

Today we had a practice session which lasted for 5 hours. At least 4 hours and 55 minutes were spent complaining about being cold, moaning about having to wear crap shoes, drinking tea and refusing to take our clothes off.

There’ll be some new moves, new props and a specially choregraphed new routine which you can perform for your beloved (on the understanding of course that he buys you something sparkly/slinky/cakey) or for your doggy/kitty/bunny who will give you their undivided attention and be very, very impressed.

Wiggling In A Winter Wonderland
We hope this little update finds you well and full of Christmas cheer/mulled wine. We’ve just had a very busy couple of weeks preparing for and hosting the Christmas “Wiggling In A Winter Wonderland” Workshops. We’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all the lively ladies who came along and worked so hard on the routine – you all looked smashing! We’d also like to thank Miss Andrea McVeigh of the Community Telegraph and Sugahfix.com who came along to review the day.
In the weeks and weeks you haven’t heard from us we were taking part in a special project for Children in Need. A bunch of gals from the Civil Service contacted us to see if we would perform at a “Strictly Come Dancing” show they were hosting and indeed we did. In addition to this we trained up the girls to take part in a special dominatrix-style routine which really wowed their colleagues! We imagine water cooler conversations will never be the same again….

Honey & myself will be whapping out some moves at Becky Moore’s “Frock Around The Clock” vintage fair on Sunday 13th September. Routines-wise there’ll be an old favourite, a new old favourite and two brand spanking new pieces to make you smile while you peruse all the lovely retro bits and bobs at the many stalls. Phew well, the Derry masterclass was certainly everything we hoped for and so much more – talk about a whistle stop tour of all things burlesque!
25 lovely ladies showed up on the night, looking fabulous and ready to get wriggly. And boy oh boy did they wriggle!

Thanks for popping back to visit us on this the week that Pixie got carpet burn on her face whilst trying to struggle into her brand new corselette and Honey blew up a hot glue gun whilst covering herself in pleather.
We’re very sorry we haven’t updated for a while. There’s also been a lot of work to do as we’re now on the final countdown to our big Derry masterclass on Saturday (6pm – 7.30pm)! We’ve worked up a brand new routine to teach the girls which includes an interesting prop or two… If you haven’t signed up yet and would still like to come along we have about 5 spaces left. If you can’t make the class then fear not! We will be heading out on the razzle afterwards, stopping off to perform a lovely dance in Pepe’s (Strand Road – http://www.pepesangels.com). If you’re out and about come down and join us for a couple of martinis.
On Saturday 29th August we’re putting on the glitz and going to watch some seasoned burlesquers doing their thing at the Bedlam Ballroom in the Black Box. Last time we saw Gypsy Charms she completely blew our seamed stockings off so we’re super duper excited.

Baby Fever rumoured to be more contagious than swine flu!
We do hope that this brand new blog finds you well and without any traces of the dreaded piggy virus. In order to obliterate any nasty germs we have been investigating the antiseptic properties of alcohol, with experiments thus far featuring martini, port and the good old Russian stuff.
Results have been inconclusive and further studies must be carried out.
Last time we spoke you may remember we had danced at Cafe Vaudeville’s 4th Birthday. Well, blonde bombshell Katrina of SugahFix.com did a wonderful review of the night, featuring a beautiful shot of us taken by the endlessly talented (and well-heeled might we add) Stephanie Williamson. August is jam-packed with party bookings and we just can’t wait to meet you girls. We’ve been working up several different party routines and whether you’re look for something elegant to cheer up your pal or something downright naughty to send your hen friend off out of singledom with a bang, we’re sure we can sort you out!

Ladies & Gentlemen!
Welcome to the beautiful, brand new website of the Whistle Bait Babies!
As you join us on our big adventure we will do our very best to keep you abreast of all our news. There will be shows! There will be parties! There will be new friends made! And hopefully there will be cake!! Mmmmm cake…
Along the way we hope to acquire an arch-nemesis and perhaps some new shoes – just to keep things exciting.
So what have we been up to of late? As well as touring with the Polercise show “Ame du Pole” across Belfast, Dundalk and Derry, a lovely party-organising lady called Angela Warren and her pals at Cafe Vaudeville hired us to dance at their 4th birthday party which was fabulous. A top bird called Gemma Garrett gave us a write-up in the Sunday Life Showbiz pages shortly afterwards and our mummies were delighted and bought many copies.
Bookings have been coming in thick and fast from little birdies wanting to learn our art and we’ve been the hostesses with the mostess, teaching hens and birthday girls how to party like pin-ups. So great has been the demand that we are undertaking a roadtrip to Derry where on the 22nd August we will be holding a Burlesque Masterclass. If you’re interested in coming along or would like to party with the Babies, contact us.
It’s hard to believe we weren’t doing this last year – our diary is starting to rival Paris Hilton’s (maybe our bank accounts will catch up with her’s at some point too). We’d like to say thanks to Scotty Edgar (deadonmusic web designery person and indie muppet), Nykkol Philips (delicious brandisher of Illamasqua goods), Steven Quinn (snapper of snaps and air-brusher of bakes) and El Fegan (all round hottie and Polercise goddess) for helping us well on our way.
